College Planning for Sophomores

The College and Career Center at Westminster Christian School exists to promote and enhance the learning process, enabling all students to achieve success in school, to acquire the information they need to gain entrance into the postsecondary institution best suited to their individual goals, and to develop their ability to serve as ambassadors for Christ.

The PSAT is in October. This is purely a practice test. You will be taking the PSAT again in the junior year for possible qualification for National Merit Semifinalist status and scholarship. For more information, visit the PSAT website.

Summer is the perfect time to invest in activities (missions, camp, sports, travel, volunteer, enrichment programs) that you may build upon in your high school years - and add to that High School Resume. As well, the summer between 10th and 11th grades is a good time to visit colleges.

Petersons is a great website for finding summer programs. The Guidance Office has a filing cabinet full of summer program resources. Come by any time and take a look. Don't forget to add all your 10th grade awards, activities, and projects to your Resume Work Sheet!

Go to the Making College Count website for helpful hints about visiting college campuses. Most college websites will have a schedule of tours and information about making an appointment.
